Not your traditional Sloppy Joe. I find this version a heck of a lot tastier than canned Manwich, and a little bit better for you too! It has an almost chili like texture due to the beans and bell pepper, but a sweeter flavor because of the molasses. It’s a quick and easy weeknight dinner.
Keys to Make this Great…
Butter and Cheese! My trick is to butter the rolls and then add the cheese to the top and bottom. This keeps the rolls from getting soggy and brings that all important cheese flavor a little closer to the tongue.
An additional favorite at my home is to serve this over waffle fries or tater tots. While the concoction is simmering, make the fries or tots according to the package directions. When they are ready, toss them on a platter and slather them with a healthy amount of the Sloppy Joe mixture. Top with shredded sharp cheddar cheese and serve.
