After years of experimentation this is my absolute best burger. Full of flavor, juicy, a slight kick, and super easy to make. When making burgers for family gatherings, this is the recipe that is most requested.
Keys to Make this Great…
If you form these into 1/3 lb or larger patties, make sure that they are well flattened and not overly thick in the middle to ensure even cooking.
Two ingredients that I believe can greatly enhance the taste based upon what product you use are the brown mustard and chili sauce. For the brown mustard… if you have a Jimmy John’s sandwich shop near you ask to purchase a jar of their Jimmy Mustard. It only comes in one size (32oz) and will run you $8-$10 but lasts a while and I use it in all kinds of dishes. For the chili sauce… I like the slight kick and extra flavor that comes from Huy Fong’s (makers of my favorite sriracha) Garlic Chili Sauce. You should be able to pick that up at your local grocery store in the international foods aisle.
For a little change I will sometimes use my Pimento Cheese Spread as a topping on the burgers instead of some other kind of cheese. It gets nice and gooey from the warmth of the patty.
Ground bison is a great substitute for ground beef if want to change things up. It adds additional flavor (I generally prefer it to ground beef) and is leaner than ground beef.
